The first few days of the weak showcased some disappointing losses and close games. Let’s hop into it.
The Chicago Bulls on Monday night, faced the Houston Rockets who are on a 7 game losing streak. Demarcus Cousins who has officially been bought out by the Rockets, is now a free agent, and he was absent from the game. Chicago out rebounded Houston and blew them out 120-100.
The Miami Heat took on the Oklahoma City Thunder, and my Miami has been struggling to find success with the return of Jimmy Butler. With Tyler Herro on the bench, the Heat had a good scoring game from all players and won 108-94.
The Charolette Hornets went up against the Utah Jazz who have the best record in the league. Gordon Hayward left the game mid-way through due to a hand injury, and with 3 of the Utah bench players scoring 20+ points, the Hornets got blown out 132-110.
The Dallas Mavericks played back to back games on Monday and Tuesday. First the played the Memphis Grizzlies and although the game was close in terms of rebounds and assists, the Mavs took the W, 102-92.
The next night the Mavericks played the Boston Celtics, and this game went down to the wire. With Jaylen Brown hitting the bucket to tie the game with 9 second left, it was up to Luka Donćic to hit the game winner, which he did in spectacular fashion. He knocked down a 3 pointer with 0.01 on the clock to put the Mavs up three to win the game 110-107.
The Portland Trail Blazers also played back to back games. On Monday they faced the Phoenix Suns and even though Chris Paul only had 2 points on the night, the Suns blew out the Blazers 132-100.
The Blazers lost again the next night as they went up against the Denver Nuggets. This game was not a blow out, and with Damion Lillard having 25 points and 13 assists, the Blazers stayed in it the whole game through. But Nikola Jokić dropped 41 points to help close out Portland 111-106.
The Washington Wizards played back to back as well, and against the Los Angeles teams no less. They went 50/50 as they won the first game against a shorthanded Lakerds team who is Dennis Schröder and Anthony Davis. The went into overtime due LeBron James missing a clutch free-throw, and the Wizards won it 127-124.
The next night they faced the Clippers with a much different result. The Clips blew out the Wizards by 19 points, and with both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George having 30 points a piece, the Wizards lost 135-116.
The Cleveland Cavaliers played the Atlanta Hawks and this one was close all the way through. While neither of these teams have been playing great this season it was a tight game with Colin Sexton scoring 29 points to Trae Young only having 28 points. That 1 point seem to. Be the difference maker with the Cavs winning by 1 point, 112-111.
The Detroit Pistons have finally got a win… but it was against the Orlando Magic. This game was about which team would play worst, and it seem that Orlando did, as they lost to terrible Pistons team 105-93.
The Brooklyn Nets, who are still missing Kevin Durant, are on a 7 game winning streak with their win over the Sacremento Kings on Tuesday. The Duo of James Harden and Kyrie Irving are proving to be a compatible and deadly front court. We will see how Kevin Durant fits back into the line-up when he is cleared to play again. The Nets won the game 127-118.
With Stephen Curry back in the lineup for Golden State as they faced they New York Knicks, the Warriors were favored to win. And win they did with Curry dropping 37 points on seven 3 pointers, the Knicks were not able to get back into it as they lost 114-106.
It was a re-match between the Toronto Raptors and the Philadelphia 76er’s and with Toronto winning the first won, the 76er’s were adamant to not get swept With Philly putting an emphasis on rebounding, the garbled 54 rebounds to Toronto’s 38 and this gave them the edge as the 76er’s split the series, and won the game 109-102.
The Milwaukee Bucks are now on a 3 game winning streak as they faced and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night. This game was a blow out, with Giannis Antetokounmpo dropping 37 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists the Bucks won the game 139-112.
