Week 6 NFL Power Rankings

Updated: Oct 13, 2021

Week 5 was not a memorable slate of football for kickers, who missed 13 extra points. There was also a ten-minute stretch in the game between the Bengals and Packers where five potential game-winning kicks were missed. Aside from that, fans are speculating about a potential change of the reigns at the top of the AFC. Is this just an overreaction or a reality?

1. Tamp Bay Buccaneers (2)

Tom Brady had a sneaky incredible performance on Sunday, carving the Dolphins defense for five touchdowns. If you ask me, he's the front-runner for MVP through the first five weeks of the season. When will he slow down? No body knows.

2. Buffalo Bills (4)

Josh Allen lit up the Kansas City defense on primetime this past Sunday. The fourth-year QB completed 5 of his 6 passes of 20-yards or more down the field, three of which fell in the hands of tight end Dawson Knox. Allen started off the season a little more inconsistent on the deep ball, but hit almost every throw on Sunday night.

3. Arizona Cardinals (3)

Without the spectacular performance that we are used to seeing from Kyler Murray on the ground, the Cards were able to contain Trey Lance and the Chicago offense. Veteran J.J. Watt tallied seven pressures on the day according to PFF, including four QB hits and three hurries.

4. Kansas City Chiefs (1)

The Chiefs looked unstoppable over the last few years, but have seem to come back down to earth over the first five weeks of the 2020 season, falling to 2-3. No team has allowed more points through five weeks than Kansas City, and only three teams have allowed more yards. I'm only dropping them a few spots, however, because they are the Chiefs after all.

5. Green Bay Packers (7)

In a game that featured one of the wildest finishes of the season, Mason Crosby was able to convert a 49-yard field goal to give the Packers the victory in overtime after missing three opportunities to win the game just prior. Davante Adams had a field day against the Bengals secondary, hauling in 11 passes on 16 targets for 206 yards and a touchdown.

6. Baltimore Ravens (6)

In yet another thrilling victory for the Ravens, one record was broken and one was made. The Baltimore run game couldn't get going enough to break the record of 43 consecutive games with 100 yards rushing or more, but Lamar Jackson became the first player in NFL history to complete 86% of his passes while throwing the ball more than 40 times. He finished the day throwing for 442 yards and four touchdowns.

7. Los Angeles Rams (8)

Matthew Stafford didn't have his best performance against the Seahawks on Thursday night, but he was also throwing the ball with a bad finger. Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods are finding all sorts of ways to get open, as they combined for for over 240 yards receiving and were targeted on 25 of Stafford's 35 throws.

8. Los Angeles Chargers (10)

Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense has been red-hot as of late, as they rank third in the league in passing yards through five games. Herbert completed over 60% of his passes on Sunday for 398 yards and four touchdowns. Mike Williams was making plays in this game, as he caught eight passes for 165 yards and two 40+ yard touchdowns.

9. Dallas Cowboys (9)

The Cowboys offense was hitting on all cylinders against the New York Giants. The passing game was efficient, and each of their two starting running backs rushed for over 100 yards. With Michael Gallup coming back into the lineup soon, this could be a dangerous passing attack in Dallas.

10. Cleveland Browns (5)

The Browns have suffered two very disappointing losses this season to two of the best teams in the AFC, and the road doesn't get easier as they take on the undefeated Cardinals next week. The good news for them is that they feature the most prolific running game in football, leading the league in rushing yards with nearly 1,000 (938) through only five games. Nick Chubb carried the ball 21 times for 161 yards, and averaged a whopping 7.7 yards-per-carry against the Chargers on Sunday.
