Antonio Brown to Tampa Bay

Tom Brady has another great weapon in Tampa Bay. Antonio Brown is reuniting with Brady in Tampa on a one-year deal. The deal carries a base salary of $1 million, with bonus options each worth $750,000, taking into consideration a Super Bowl victory, receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Brady gets another big name weapon. Brown joins Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, O.J. Howard, Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette, and Ronald Jones, as pass catchers for Brady. Brown will be playing in three and four wide receiver sets. He will initially be dueling with Scott Miller for playing time.

This is a great move by Tampa. If Brown has fixed his off-field issues, he could be one of the best receivers in the league. Defensive coordinators are going to have to choose with whom they want to give a one-on-one match-up. If Brown continues to be a distraction off the field, this will simple be a small contract with no long-term ramifications (besides negative PR). Keep in mind that Bruce Arians is considered to be a players coach. Brown will have to be in control of himself because he won’t have a coach in his face. Keep in mind that Arians and Brown were together in Pittsburgh in 2010 and 2011.

Now in his 11th season, Brown is a seven-time pro bowler and a four-time all-pro. He was named to the NFL’s all-decade team in 2010. He has led the league in yards and receptions twice, and touchdowns once. Brown played one game in 2019 with the Patriots where he totaled four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown. Two of his other three receptions went for a first down.
